The Ambassador Project
The Ambassador Project is an innovative, peer to peer support initiative created by Cobbled Streets and Be the Source dedicated to creating lasting connections among child welfare caregivers who share similar lived experiences. This program ensures that families have a robust circle of support, even after their cases are closed. By cultivating and empowering these connections, the Ambassador Project helps create communities where families feel supported, valued, and never alone.
Ambassadors are mentors who are current or former foster or kinship caregivers. They understand the unique challenges families face. As trusted advisors, they are spread across the state by judicial districts, making it easier for them to engage with and empower families in their local counties. Ambassadors connect the community by hosting monthly events, strengthening connections, and guiding caregivers to local resources and support.

I am so grateful to be a part of this amazing team! Our family got certified and started fostering 7 years ago and it has been the hardest and best thing we’ve ever done. My family consists of me, my husband Jon, our Sadie who is 16, Shafer who is 13, and Elora who just turned 8! We love being a part of the foster and kin community! We get to meet the best people. We consider it a true blessing to be able to be a part of so many peoples lives through foster care.

Esther Dennis

Weld County
My name is Esther Dennis and I’m one of the Weld county Ambassadors. When I have some time for myself, you will usually find me baking anything sweet, painting ceramics or playing cards. I have spent the last 9yrs as a Foster parent for Weld County. I’m also an adoptive parent. I love connecting with people as an Ambassador. Whether we are sharing our stories of joy or sorrow, I enjoy being in conversation with foster minded people. I’m passionate about creating environments where others can connect and not feel so alone or isolated in such unique situations like foster care. Opening doors for others to share their stories so someone else can feel connected. These are the environments I feel the most empowered and I love being able to create them for others.

My husband and I have recently closed after being licensed foster parents for almost 9 years. In that time we have fostered 32 children and adopted 4. I have also worked as a case aide for a placement agency and worked closely with other foster families on licensing and training. I love being able to be that support for families that I so desperately needed while I was in the thick of fostering. Being able to share my experience and helping families find their voice and not be afraid to advocate for themselves and the kids in their care is the best! As a way to decompress I enjoy cooking, reading and playing Bunco with a group of ladies once a month.
